American Purple Top Rutabaga
Seed Count: Approx. 200 seeds
Days to Maturity: 90-120 days
Description: American Purple Top Rutabaga produces reliable crops of large, 4-6", smooth, round, off white to yellow roots, with deep purple crowns. Its firm flesh has amazingly sweet and mellow flavor that turns a beautiful golden color when cooked. You can mash rutabagas just like you would potatoes, or add them to soups and stews. They're even great roasted, or baked in casseroles. The tops are also edible and delicious sautéed. Rutabaga's flavor is best when grown and harvested in cool weather, and is sown as a fall crop, in most places. Overall, it's a super versatile, and easy to grow heirloom, with great storage capabilities, and definitely deserves a spot in any home garden.
