Description: Palla Rossa Radicchio, a member of the chicory family, is an early producer, and a colorful leafy vegetable that is continuously growing in popularity.  It produces uniform, 3-4", dense, firm, well wrapped, magenta colored heads with attractive white veins.  You can use this cute vegetable to add a hint of tangy bitterness, color, and crispness to your salads.  However, its flavor can be mellowed out if grilled or roasted.  You can harvest the leaves all season long, or you can harvest full heads, in the fall, when its color and flavor is at its best.  Pallo Rossa Radicchio is easy growing Italian heirloom that even beginner gardeners can master.  This variety grows extremely well in containers and pots.
